Instructions

01Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until caramelized, about 30 minutes.
02Meanwhile, prepare the frankfurters according to package directions.
03Place the franks into the hot dog buns and dress with French onion dip, caramelized onions and gruyere cheese.
04If needed, broil the prepared franks for 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted.
